AbstractThis paper presents the development of a climatological database for the radiative transfer model BRASIL-SR to map the surface solar irradiation in South America. This work is a component of SWERA (Solar and Wind Energy Resource Assessment) project, founded by UNEP-GEF. Temperature, relative humidity, surface albedo and visibility are the input data for the BRASIL-SR. Geostatistics techniques were applied on several available environmental ground datasets to prepared maps in the same resolution of that of the satellites images used by the model. The results present good confidence and reliability.
